We may all have faced situations in which getting the right thing to say proves really difficult. It may be that a friend is going through a situation and we cannot seem to find the words to tell them how we feel; why not choose a nice bouquet of fresh flowers and let it say exactly what we would love to say but cannot.


That may sound really difficult because one may wonder: how does the recipient differentiate 'I'm sorry' or 'get well soon' from 'I love you'? Well it is rather easy, once you get it right. Different types of flowers, different floral arrangements all convey different messages.


If you want to buy flowers for the mother of a new baby, find out whether it is a baby boy or girl, and then choose the colors appropriately. You may also think of buying a few practical items to go with the flower basket like pampers and cheerful things like balloons or cuddly toys. Be sure to find out if the mom has had fever or any other condition that may be aggravated by the flowers and try buying those ones that are not loaded with pesticides.


Flowers for loved ones need not be red, not even on Valentine's; a combination of white, pink and red tulips is another option that works well and since red roses have almost become cliché, you may wish to be a bit more creative and original.


If they are for your mother on Mother's day, you could get a custom-made combination for her, reflecting the person you know her to be. Mind that although carnations are a favorite for many on this day, yellow ones are associated with contempt.


'I'm sorry' flowers need not be so varied and cheerful but selecting just one type that the person likes is nice enough. An addition of some white detail to such a bouquet could convey the sense of a new beginning.


If you would like to buy flowers for someone in hospital, such lively colors as orange and yellow could contribute to lifting of one's spirits. Somber colors on the other hand are well suited to funerals and communicate sympathy and support to the bereaved in a way that words may not quite do.


For messages of love some choose daffodils which also signify a rebirth and are a suitable option for anniversaries or after a make up.


Meanings associated with different flowers though, are as many and varied as people's points of view and cultures worldwide so one need not limit their options on such basis.


You need not always wait for special occasions though, in order to visit your local florist; flowers bought without strings attached have a much better effect on the recipient. Remember that although you will spend more to have a florist arrange flowers for you it may be well worth the sacrifice because they do a much better job than any untrained person would.
